Message definition (Source:Oracle Backup)

If a user is authorized via OS login, you can use <tt><sid></tt>. If the Recovery Catalog (RCAT) option was not used, you must specify the <tt>nocatalog</tt> parameter to use the control file of the target database instead.

If a user is authorized via OS login, then <sid> is sufficient. If no Recovery Catalog RCAT was used then 'nocatalog' must be specified to use the target database control file.
