Control

Control en.jpg

The System Tray can be used to control Sesam processes. Options are:

  • Starting Sesam when it's not running
  • Stopping a running Sesam
  • Restarting Sesam
  • Reloading the GUI
  • Accessing a Terminal to control Sesam via a command shell

The Control register also shows the current status of all Sesam processes in the Status window. An automatic refreshing rate can be adjusted for this.

Settings

Language

Language en.jpg

Choose the language you want to use for the local Sesam system and the System Tray. Once you click Apply settings you will be asked if you want to restart the RMI-GUI Server in the language you chose (Click "yes" or "no").

GUI

Options here are:

  • Starting the GUI in a terminal window (GUI is started from a command shell for more control)
  • Setting Log levels (0-6)
  • Resetting the placement of the GUI windows to default

  • Adjust server access rights (What hosts do you want to be able to backup your system?)
  • Set CTRLD Log level (0-3)
  • Check host connection and name resolution
  • Do a test backup (Log levels (0-4)

Service

  • Get information about SEP Sesam's services
  • Choose an account to log on. Usually, logging on with a local system account should be enough however if you need more rights (e.g. for an Exchange server) log on using an account with the necessary access rights.

Tray

Adjust the System Tray's settings:

  • Set an automatic start of the system tray
  • Use an interactive System Tray icon. The System Tray icon can be set to automatically show the status of SEP Sesam. On top of that it can be set to rotate when backups are running. You can adjust the polling time of this feature (checking the status frequently makes rotating symbol more accurate but also needs more resources)

Config

Config contains a list of protocols of SEP Sesam processes. They are:

  • sm_ini
  • sm_ctrld.auth
  • sm_java.policy
  • stpd.ini
  • sms.ini

Troubleshooting

As sm_system_tray is an .Net 2.0 program it is recommended to install .NET Framework 2.0 Redistributable (x86)/(x64) or a higher version.

Otherwise sm_system_tray may not start and an error like the one in the following image may appear.
