Netware / GroupWise Backup Quick Start

This document includes a Quick-Start howto for installing and configuring a GroupWise and/or NSS Volume Backup

Preparing the Environment

Choosing a Data-Mover

For Backing up via the Novell TSA Service the following Components are needed:

SEP Sesam Server
Data-Mover System with SEP Sesam client an SEP Sesam Novell Client

The Data-Mover System will connect the TSA Service via the SEP Sesam Novell Client.

If your SEP Sesam Server is running on OES2 Linux, it can be used as Data-Mover. If your SEP Sesam Server however is running on Windows or on another SLES Version without OES Components, you have to either make the Backup Client itslef the Datamover, or a third System in your environment.

The Following possiblities exist:

  • SEP Sesam Server on OSE2 which acts as Data-Mover
Installed Sesam Components on the Sesam Server:
sesam-srv
sesam-novell-client
Installed Sesam Components on the Sesam Client:
sesam-cli
  • SEP Sesam Server on Windows or Linux, one OES client to backed up:
Installed Sesam Components on the Sesam Server:
sesam-srv
Installed Sesam Components on the OES2 Client:
sesam-cli
sesam-novell-client
